First, the therapist puts a flammable substance on the cupping, such as alcohol, herbs, or paper, and then sets it on fire. When the fire is extinguished, the cup is placed face down on the skin at the desired location.
As the air inside the cup cools down, a vacuum effect is created, which causes the skin to be sucked in and thus to lift and redden due to the expansion of the blood vessels. The suction cup usually remains on the skin for up to 3 minutes.
For the first session, 3 to 5 cuppings can be done. The maximum recommended number of cuppings is 7. After the session, you will receive an antibiotic ointment and bandages to prevent your skin infection. Your skin will return to normal within a few days after the therapy.
