Laser liposuction can be performed in your doctor’s office under local anesthesia. General anesthesia is not required.
The patient will be awake during the procedure. The doctor will numb the area with a needle and local anesthesia so you will not feel discomfort.
He or she will make a small incision and insert a small laser under the skin that liquefies the fat. Next, the doctor will insert a small tube, called a cannula, which suctions the melted fat from under the skin.
